Challenges/Competitions are not fair! My work needs to be paid.
Challenges and Freelance do not share the same nature. Often Freelance Jobs have a clear set of tasks and the client knows exactly what has to be done and how then you get paid for what people ordered from you. Our competitions are no request for freelance. For our clients, if they have a problem to solve, they use challenges with money awards. So they get a variety of solutions and concepts and the best solution wins, the others receive no monetary reward. This is the nature of challenges.
Why companies use challenges instead of freelance, one reason may be, they got stock with their engineering crew or they simply want fresh ideas from outside the box. They believe there is someone out there in the crowd who can solve the challenge or has a cool idea.
For some challenges just ideas are needed, take a few minutes to think about a challenge and write a couple of lines to get the sparkling idea. For challenges with higher prize money, the requested concepts are serious work. For many freelancers these competitions are a great opportunity to show their creativity. They even may win in addition contracts, over offers they provide – if asked for.
I have an idea…
If it’s an idea related to a challenge we published, please submit your idea by clicking on “Add my solution”.
If you have a new idea, a good way to start is to create your own “Idea project”: https://www.swip.world/projects/ideas/new
Describe your idea and what kind of support you need to move forward. Other users will see your idea and rate it. Maybe some will be interested in joining your project. This is public, thus only share as many details as you feel comfortable to share publicly. This allows you to receive feedback, as other users can see your idea, write comments and rate your idea. If you’d like to keep it more confidential for now, let’s talk and see how we can help you.
Will you sell my ideas?
Please start by creating your own “Idea project”: https://www.swip.world/projects/ideas/new
This is public, thus only share as many details as you feel comfortable to share publicly and only if you are sure that you don’t have the time or will to persue the idea yourself. Once you’ve received feedback from other users and your idea is confirmed to be a good one, we can offer you to get in touch with appropriate companies on your behalf. The terms for this need to be negotiated, we don’t have a standard contract for this yet. Let us know if you’re interested in such a cooperation.
How do you arrange to pay the contributors if their ideas generate money?
There are 3 possibilities:
Who would be the owner of the idea and for how long time?
Again there is 3 possibilities:
Is my innovative idea submitted in this platform safe from being stolen or copied by others?
At the moment we can’t give you much protection. You should share only as much as you feel comfortable. You could explain your concept on a high level but omit details, until you built a personal relationship. Are you aware that 97% of all patents never make any money and more than 90 million EU patent registrations never get patented because they are not followed through? Having an Idea is the easy part. Having the determination and tenacity to execute it, find supporters, partners investors etc. is what does the trick. We aim to help you with exactly that. Stay tuned for the virtual coach and many other features that we are building to help you to make your vision come true. At the moment our prototype only provides for Idea Challenges where you can challenge the crowd to solve a problem, or you can post your idea to get feedback, encouragement and tips for execution. Some people have cool Ideas and they know that they will never be able to execute it, but they would love to see the idea come true. We will pick up the good ideas that people want to see come true and find corporations who may want to execute it and reward the one who gave the idea. For those who want to keep the critical aspects of their idea secret but find help for execution, we are developing amazing tools and features, which we hope to be able to launch soon.
